The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857. For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.

Becoming a MemberLectures
Here is a list of lectures at the Alpine Club. Select additional pages using the numbers at the bottom.
The lectures provide a good opportunity for AC members to meet one another and exchange news, views and information. New members and prospective members are particularly welcome. Prospective members are asked to contact the AC office before attending. Lectures generally start at 7:30pm.
For the lectures in London, non-members are asked to register their attendance in advance either by filling in the relevant form on the lecture page or by contacting the office at admin@alpineclub.org (Please note that a donation is requested on entry).
Anyone who has had an interesting trip and would be prepared to lecture is invited to contact the AC Office or the lecture organisers.

Events Calendar
Tom will present some recent first ascents in the Himalayas (including a Piolet d’Or - winning route on Latok 1 in 2018, and on Tengkangpoche in Nepal during the covid pandemic).
He’ll discuss the changes faced in climbing today, from ‘Fast and Light’ ascents, Covid-19, the Olympics and the warming climate.
With an emphasis on technical routes at ever-higher altitudes, Tom has tried to consistently push the standard of alpinism and wonders how this compares to the impressive ascents of the past. He’d rather let the photos and videos do the talking, so expect plenty of both.

There is no official charge for entry, but we do ask those non-members who are able to make a small contribution to allow the lectures to keep running.
If you are unable to attend the lecture in person, members will be able to access a video recording of the talk shortly after the event via the 'Lecture Archive' section of the 'Member Login' drop-down menu. (You will need to log into the website to see this).
