Sebastian Zöllner - Mountains and Mountaineering in the Philippines
Tuesday 11 March 2025, 07:30pm - 09:30pm
Tuesday 11 March 2025

Whilst the Philippines are devoid of glaciated ranges or highly technical summits, the archipelago is nonetheless home to hundreds of mountains. Finding himself in the country in early 2024, Sebastian was able to set aside some time to explore this higher ground. He will present an overview of the mountains of the Philippines, touching on the local mountaineering scene, as well as on the ecological richness of these rainforest-covered peaks. Furthermore he will talk about three individual mountains that he climbed, including the rarely-visited Guiting-Guiting on Sibuyan island, as well as a north to south crossing of the island of Palawan over its highest peak.

The talk will be held at the Alpine Club's premises at 55 Charlotte Road, London, EC2A 3QF from 7PM on 11 March 2025.

For safety reasons, we are required to keep a register of all attendees. If you plan to attend, please complete the form below. (This applies to both members and non-members).

There is no official charge for entry, but we do ask non-members to make a small contribution towards the continued running of the lectures if they are able.
