Using two decades of research, Katherine MacInnes (pen name Kate Nicholson) has brought to the page the life of Ruth Mallory, the woman behind the most famous mountaineer in history. In 'Behind Everest' she sheds new light on Ruth and George's marriage, including George's relationships with women such as Jelly d'Aranyi, Mary Ann O'Malley, and Stella Cobden-Sanderson, and details Ruth's experiences as a climber, including her work as a founder of the Pinnacle Club.
The talk will be held at the Alpine Club's premises at 55 Charlotte Road, London, EC2A 3QF from 7PM on 25 June 2024.
