The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857. For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.
With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!

Simon Richardson's climbing career has been defined by the search for the new. As a Scottish winter climber and the operator of 'Scottish Winter', a blog detailing first winter ascents, he is immersed in the culture of new routing. But his sights are not limited to his native Scotland and he has achieved notable first ascents throughout the globe, often in areas and on peaks previously considered to be "climbed out".
Venue: Outside Cafe, Main Rd, Hathersage, Hope Valley S32 1BB
All are welcome to attend and the talk is free for AC members on production of your AC membership card and students on production of a valid NUS card. Non-members are asked to make a donation of £3 towards the cost of the lecture.
