The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857. For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.
With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!
Becoming a MemberBased in the Peruvian capital of Huaraz, this Greater Ranges meet is aimed at Full Members with recent and appropriate summer Alpine experience.
The Cordillera Blanca boasts a plethora of 5000m and 6000m peaks at Alpine grades of PD and above, relatively cheap accommodation and transport, and generally stable weather.
The meet has 10-12 places, and priority will be given to pairs applying as rope teams of two, who can climb independently, or with other pairs, depending on itinerary. This friendly meet will seek to acclimatise together, or in small groups, before independent pairs or teams pursue their own itineraries and objectives.
Places are filling up quickly and pairs are strongly encouraged to apply soon to avoid disappointment.
