In this joint AC/ASC lecture Steve will recount his 2022-2023 ASC ski tour trip to Antarctica.
After a couple of delays due to Covid, the team finally set off for the Antarctic peninsula in December 2022, sailing from Ushuaia on a specially-equipped 18m yacht. After setting up campsites on the peninsula as bases from which to explore and attempt unclimbed peaks, they soon discovered that Antarctica's reputation as a tough, forbidding environment is well-deserved.
Steve will discuss how the team dealt with challenges including technical failures and extreme weather, often at unsociable hours, which turned the expedition into a rather 'exciting' adventure.
The talk will be held at the Alpine Club's premises at 55 Charlotte Road, London, EC2A 3QF from 7PM on 13 June 2023.
For safety reasons, we are required to keep a register of all attendees. If you plan to attend, please complete the form below. (This applies to both members and non-members).
