The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857. For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.
With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!
Becoming a MemberSikkim: Beyond the Mists
Victor and Nick talk about their recent expeditions to Sikkim. Together with Mick Fowler, Victor has made a number of attempts on the magnificent Chombu, and Nick was part of a team of five AC members whose sights were on easier objectives in the same area. Conditions and weather always present challenges in Sikkim but this remote and beautiful area has a unique draw. Nigel Buckley will speak first about the history of climbing in Sikkim.
Victor, Nick and Nigel will each chat for about 10 minutes, and then answer any questions.
If you would like to join, please check your emails again on Monday 6 April, when a link to the Zoom lecture will be sent out on Alpinet.
A recording of the lecture will be curated in the AC Library so any member who missed it would be able to have a link to it sent to them.
This link will help you to familiarise yourself with Zoom in advance:
