Friday 17 May 2019
A chance to visit Arran and the Black Cuillin of Skye, with some nights at the remote Coruisk hut, and an initial weekend in Glencoe. This will be a small meet with 10 places, and seeks to combine the Arran and Skye meets of previous years, and take advantage of the UK’s most mountainous terrain with scrambling and rock climbing of all grades.

The Black Cuillin and the Arran Granite have some of the finest scenery and mountaineering in the UK, and offer some of our best routes available to all level of climber. For most, Glencoe is en route to Skye, so the first weekend will provide a chance to enjoy climbing in the most famous of all Highland Glens.

Book early!  The small number of places will go fast. Lift shares available. There is the option to join for all or part of this meet.

Alex Macyntyre Hut
The Alex MacIntyre Memorial Hut sleeps 16 and is located between Glencoe and Fort William, at North Ballachulish, in the Western Highlands. It is ideally located for walkers and climbers wishing to explore Ben Nevis and Glencoe.

Coruisk Hut, Isle of Skye
Accessed by boat from Elgol, the remote Coruisk hut is ideally situated for excursions to Sgurr na Stri (recommended), Druim nan Ramh, The Dubhs, Gars-bheinn and the more demanding traverse of the Cuillin Ridge. Rock climbing of all grades is found nearby. On less energetic days one might include low level walks around Loch na Cuilce, where there are many seals and other forms of wildlife, or around Loch Coruisk, where the scenery is most dramatic with the black rocks plunging into the watery depths.  The building is self contained and sleeps 9 persons in bunks within the main room.

Glen Rosa Campsite, Arran
The convenient (although very basic) Glen Rosa campsite is ideally situated for easy access to the excellent mountaineering and rock climbing objectives in Glen Rosa and so this will be the base for the meet. Those with a more flexible budget can book themselves into the Brodick bunkhouse with a more luxurious price tag to match!
