The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857. For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.
With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!

Based at the Gjestegård Hostel in Rjukan, arguably the Mecca of ice climbing. Access is simple, conditions always seem to be good, and the Gjestegård Hostel in Rjukan Centre provides the very best accommodation we could ask for. Scroll down for some images and a map.

Cost: Hostel only - £29 per night - Note: Price will fluctuate with exchange rates.
Additional costs: In the past almost everyone has taken advantage of the Hostel's in-house breakfast (and free day food) which is circa £6 per person. This is not mandatory but self catering at breakfast time is tricky in the main canteen.
Doing your own thing is of course possible but you lose the food & social advantages the in-service breakfast provides.
